What is Plactron?

Plactron is a platform that enables musicians to sell their art directly to their fans and receive fair compensation for their work. Our mission is to provide music artists with fair conditions again. With Plactron, artists can upload their music, post exclusive content, and sell it directly to their fans. Fans can enjoy exclusive content for a monthly contribution via the SuperFan feature (deep link to SuperFans Section).

How can I register as an artist with Plactron?

To sign up as an artist with Plactron, simply visit our website and select Artist Page and click on the “Register Now” button. Fill out the required information and follow the prompts to complete your registration. It's a quick and easy process that gets you started showcasing your music and connecting with fans. After registration, you can get started right away and use the Artist web dashboard to upload your music and content.

Is there a Plactron app for artists?

  • The Plactron app was developed primarily for fans. To upload content, the Artist Dashboard is currently only available as a web dashboard. This ensures the highest quality for music uploads and management.
  • If you register as an artist, you will also receive a fan account with the same login details. You can use these login details to log in to the Plactron fan app and use all available features for fans.

What are SuperFans and how can they help me?

SuperFans are your biggest backers who can support you by subscribing to exclusive content on Plactron. With a monthly subscription, they can get access to special content, behind the scenes, and other exclusive benefits from you. This support allows you to continue creating and sharing music. The SuperFan feature must be activated in the Artist web dashboard. There, you can choose from various subscription options that you would like to offer to your SuperFans. You can find this setting on the dashboard under the 'SuperFan' tab.

How can I share exclusive content on Plactron?

To share exclusive content for your SuperFans, you must first activate the SuperFan feature in the Artist web dashboard. Then you can share exclusive content, such as special videos, YouTube videos, audio files, photos, and updates. This content is only accessible to your SuperFans who have subscribed to your exclusive offer.

What could be exclusive content?

Exclusive content can include BTS videos (=behind the scenes), sneak peaks, live performances, personal thoughts, special access to events and more.

Can I convert previously published content into exclusive content for SuperFans and vice versa?

In the Artist Dashboard, you can change postings to exclusive or non-exclusive content by clicking on the SuperFan icon.

What can I upload to the platform?

On Plactron, you can upload various content, such as singles, albums, videos, images, and exclusive materials for your SuperFans.

What do I have to do to publish my music on Plactron?

To publish your music on Plactron, you'll need to log into your Artist Dashboard, go to the upload area, and follow the instructions to upload your tracks. Make sure that your files are in the supported format and upload your cover in 1x1 format.

Which formats can I upload?

Plactron supports various audio formats, including WAV, FLAC, AAC, MP3, and m4a. For other types of content, such as videos and images, popular formats such as MP4, JPG, and PNG are supported. MOV videos are currently not supported and can be converted via XXX (link).

Can I delete my music from Plactron?

Yes, you can remove your music from Plactron at any time. Simply log into your Artist Dashboard, find the single or album you'd like to remove, and follow the prompts to delete it from the platform. Note that fans who've already purchased your music, even after you delete it, can still access it. You can still listen to the music you've purchased from the app.

How can I inform my fans about new events?

You can let your fans know about new events by posting updates to your Plactron profile. With the event function, in the Fanpage tab, you can provide details such as date, time, location, price and the ticket link. You can also add an event description and upload a photo.

The Artist web dashboard and the Plactron app for fans are free of charge.

What is the share for artists?

Value added tax, Apple/Google Commission and GEMA fees are deducted from gross income, resulting in gross profit. This gross profit is then divided between the artist and Plactron. With standard sales, the artist receives 80% and Plactron 20%. For SuperFan subscriptions, the split is 60% for the artist and 40% for Plactron. For support contributions, the artist receives 80% and Plactron 20%.

You can see your earned earnings in the Artist Dashboard on the homepage.

How does the payout work?

The payout is made via the bank account or PayPal account you have specified. You can add and update your payout details under the Settings and “Update payout information” tab. Payouts are made as soon as your income is at least €10 per month.
